About Me

Hi, I’m Benedicte Ambjerg—a visual artist based in Berlin. My work explores emotional expression, softness, and complexity through portraits of women in quiet, introspective moments. I primarily paint with gouache on paper, and have recently begun working with oil paint as well.

I’m drawn to themes like vulnerability, strength, and beauty that isn’t always polished. My palette tends to lean into soft pastels and deep shadows, creating a balance between lightness and weight. Each painting is built from layered references—faces, postures, backgrounds—woven into new characters and imagined scenes.

I’ve spent the last few years deepening my practice, painting nearly every day. While I’ve shown my work through galleries and print sales, I’m now opening up to commissions and collaborations—especially for book covers, music artwork, and fashion.

When I’m not in the studio, I’m usually walking with my dogs Luna and Bella, listening to music, or taking long photo walks through the city for inspiration.
